Martial arts... best one??
Without getting into this too much (I know there are aficionados on martial arts) I need to know the answer to a couple of questions.

1) which is the best discipline to learn if you want to be able to kick the fuck out of someone in a street fight/protect your family...

2) which is the quickest discipline to learn to a competent standard...

3) combining the above: I want a destructive form of attack should I need it, and be able to master this in 72hours. Ho ho. Seriously, in a year or so. Maybe six months??

Taekwondo? Jujitsu? Kickboxing? Don't suggest something obscure like Bogator or Bakom where there is no chance of finding local classes.

HIT ME. Well, don't hit me. Not yet.

If you're using only those criteria to select one, then I don't think martial arts is for you.

Cbe

That's it, remember reading it's aim is literally to maim and break bones, no finesse unless needed but guess if wanting to protect family that be what want

Rather than rolling on floor trying get someone in Peruvian neck tie while his mates stamp on your face!!!

Boxing all the rest are too technical

Most knockouts are through punches anyway, on e your mans groggy or down then you can kick his head in!

Yeah. I did it only for about 6 months but it's really good. Once you learn the basics (centre line punching) it makes complete sense. The top boys are fucking awesome and extremely handy - although I guess the same can be said of all martial arts.

Bruce Lee's one is Jeet Kune Do.

I did that for years and Kali Eskrima...Philippino stick and knife fighting!

JKD is handy as it's a mixture of loads of martial arts.

Re: Martial arts... best one??
Krav Maga was originally used by security forces and the special police in Israel. Krav Maga is a rule-less form of martial arts that incorporates violent skill. It is not to be practiced for sport, because it emphasizes using devastating attacks on your opponent’s vital areas.

Krav Maga emphasizes attacks on the opponent’s groin and eyes. It also encourages head butts and the use of any available objects as weapons.
This form of martial arts features a three-step approach. First, you deal with the immediate threat; secondly you prevent the attacker from mounting a second offensive, and finally neutralize your attacker.

Re: Martial arts... best one??
Some are considered more of a martial discipline while others are obviously more catered to practical street fights.

Jiu Jitsu = grabs locks and submissions
Judo = tosses flips and throws
muay thai = brutal knees and elbows
etc etc

If you want to win fights in the street in a devastating fashion than go with krav maga.

Re: Martial arts... best one??
But as people said boxing be fine

Boxers come unstuck against other martial arts and MMA fighters but you got to be bloody unlucky if the bloke gurgling your house happens to be a second dan at BJJ too
